Passage of Time Sequence.

sb9

As we leave the Odyssey sequence, the picture dissolves  to a new scene as the music changes. The camera is fixed on a section of the sketch of the painting known here as Nausicaa at Leisure, however the shot is done in time lapse as the sun moves across the picture casting shadows from a windowpane. The illusion here is that time is flowing quickly by.

This shot was taken in my room late last winter while there were still no leaves on the trees. It had to be done early in the morning when the sun was still low and cast light across the room, so I set the camera and everything else up the previous night. The camera ran for about 40 minutes to get a good motion of the shadows.

Then the picture dissolves to a pan of the completed painting.
